Modified Starch

Modified starch mainly means starch ethers like hydroxypropyl starch ether HPS, carboxymethyl starch CMS, dextrin and pregelatinized Starch. It is a water-soluble polymer derived from chemically modified natural starch. It functions as a multi-functional organic admixture to adjust rheology, stabilize fresh mixes and optimize operation performance of cementitious mortar and concrete.

• Thixotropic thickener & anti-sagging agent: 

Its molecular chains form a reversible 3D gel network in aqueous cement systems. At rest, the network delivers high viscosity to stop vertical sagging, tile slipping; under mixing, pumping or trowel shear, the network breaks instantly to reduce viscosity for smooth spreading and easy pumping.

• Improve Anti-bleeding & anti-segregation:  

It locks free mixing water and wraps fine cement/aggregate particles, eliminating water separation, aggregate sinking and stratification of high-fluidity mortars and pumped concrete, improving overall mix homogeneity.

• Optimize workability & lubricity: 

Enhances mortar cohesiveness and creamy troweling feel, reduces splashing during construction, and balances stiffness and spreadability for thin-layer plaster and self-leveling materials.

• Prolong open time of wet mortar or concretes: 

Abundant hydrophilic groups adsorb and immobilize free water, slowing water loss to porous substrates or air evaporation to prolong open time, allowing sufficient cement hydration.

• Excellent compatibility: 

Fully compatible with cellulose ethers, redispersible polymer powder, superplasticizers, gypsum and Portland cement. Compound use with cellulose ether greatly improves water retention and vertical stability simultaneously.

• Renewable, eco-friendly & non-toxic: 

Made from natural starch, biodegradable, no harmful volatile substances, matching green low-carbon building material standards. It also reduces cement consumption and carbon footprint indirectly. 

• Wide pH & temperature tolerance: 

Stable viscosity and water retention under alkaline cement environments and variable construction temperatures, less sensitive to on-site mixing water fluctuations.
